Water

So what’s the big deal? Aren’t all waters the same? Hopefully you aren’t as bad off as I was. As a child the only memories I have of drinking water during that time was when my family and I would go out to eat and the waiter/waitress would give us what I am sure was tap water until our dinner was ready, then he/she would bring our sodas with our meal!

It wasn’t until I was about 13 that I began to notice some sort of lump near my ovaries that of course prompted a visit to the doctor. I don’t think she wanted to scare my mother or me seeing as though I was so young, but because of the knowledge I now possess, I do believe it was a tumor. So to keep us calm, she recommended that I drink more water (so there went the sodas, kool-aid, and punch)! Unfortunately, we still had them in the house, but there was a new beverage now, water, ugh yuck! It was nasty, because it didn’t have any taste! Sorry, I got side-tracked, you are probably wondering what happened to the tumor,…praise God, it shrank!

We now know not only does what we eat have varying pH levels, but what we drink as well. Anyway, as time went on, I began to hear all of the controversy about the various kinds of water, what temperature the water should be and how much water we should drink, which is what we will discuss now.

You should be aware of the first rule in drinking water. When we drink water the water Must Be room temperature! Why is this you ask? This is necessary because our bodies are different temperatures at different times and drinking water when not close to our body temperature throws our bodies off! When we drink cold water for instance when we are hot, we may get "brain freeze"! I know the ultimate goal is too cool off, but when you think about it, it never happens! Moving on!

Types of Water

Tap—Depending on where you live, your water if treated already contains chlorine, and/or fluorine, but it could also be contaminated with additional heavy chemicals, such as lead. It is also important to note chlorine and fluorine are byproducts of aluminum (which we know is a contributor in Alzheimer's) and can kill the good, as well as the bad bacteria in the body. The original purpose of treated water was designed to kill bacteria and amebas. Unfortunately this treatment is not effective against waters that contain cryptosporidium and/or giardia, which are parasites. If you have been reading each of my pages in order, you recall, parasites can cause health problems, as they lower the immune system. So if you are on a budget, and if drinking this water is your only option, you must have this water tested! One other thing you must know about this chlorinated water is that like alcohol can be evaporated by the use of heat, so too can chlorine (only if you know for certain that it is at low levels and the only chemical in your water). In fact, you don’t have to boil the water first, you can simply allow it to sit out for some time! If however, you want the body to heal itself, you must make this water alkaline! Again, simply add trace minerals, or squeeze fresh lemon into the water before drinking it.

Spring/Well Water—For those of you blessed to have this as a source of drinking water, you are truly blessed! In most cases, water from these sources have the necessary ingredients to keep the body well nourished, but to be safe, it is best to have this water tested as well due to the ground water contamination (detergents, farm chemicals and/or radiation). On occasion, you should chlorinate this stagnant water, so as to ensure it kills any bacteria and fungal growth, but as I always say, add fresh lemon juice or trace minerals. It is always better to be safe than sorry!

Distilled—If you choose to use or must drink this water, you may need to add trace minerals to it, as it is often void of the necessary minerals/trace minerals needed for the proper nourishment of our bodies. If however, you are blessed to come across good distilled water, it is important to know that when it is tested, it tests negatively (acidic) producing a completely negative ion reaction in our systems. Hunh??? Let me finish! A completely negative ion is a good thing, praise God, as this simply means that it is alkaline forming! In other words, it automatically has a good pH! If when tested you see a high pH, please know this is acid forming once entered in the body. If you are concerned that the water needs to be neutralized(not being too acidic, nor too alkaline), you can do this too (by doing the aforementioned)!

Bottled—Unfortunately not all bottled water is as claimed (to be one of the best forms of drinking water). Watch this video to see what ABC News uncovered!

Another thing to consider when getting bottled water is the plastic. If you opt to use bottled water, you will want to make sure the chemicals from the bottle do not leak into the water, as most are recycled with # 1 or 2 which means it is one of the weakest forms of plastic. So not only are you drinking water, but the toxins from the bottled water as well. Regardless as to what kind of bottle it is, you can check for yourself , as there is a Resin ID Number located on the bottom, ranging from 1 to 7 within a triangle with three chasing arrows.

Reverse Osmosis--Is a way of obtaining pure water from salt water, like desalination. Pure water and the salt water are then separated by a semipermeable membrane and the pressure of the salt water is raised above the osmotic pressure, causing water from the brine to pass through the membrane into the pure water. This process requires a pressure of some 25 atmospheres, making it difficult to apply on a large scale. This water is also acceptable, though not alkaline, and requires that the filters must be checked often, otherwise contamination will be the end result. Again, for the purposes of allowing the body to do as it was originally designed, you must make this water alkaline, using the methods we spoke of earlier!

Alkaline, Electronically Restructured Alkaline Water, or i-H20™

This is what I use. To see a slide show/read more about it, click here. If you prefer to watch a presentation on how this came into being, how to use it, and/or to know it’s benefits, you may click the picture below.

Water Intake and Formula

When drinking water, the best times are one hour before eating and/or two and a half hours after a meal. One’s water should be adjusted so as not to allow the blood in our bodies not to become too concentrated as a result of our food intake. If however, the blood does become too concentrated, water draws from the cells around it, hence the formula! If a person weighs 200 lbs., they should drink a half ounce of water for each pound, which comes out to be 100 ounces of water.

Another way to gauge the amount of water you need is by the color of urine. A person who is well hydrated has colorless urine, a semi-hydrated person produces yellowish urine, while a completely dehydrated person produces urine that is orange in color.
